Elevation Expeditions: Southern Character

By now you probably know I've been on a quest to consume the best Bourbon & Burgers that America and the world have to offer. I've tasted many quality burgers but there are few the hold top shelf status.

I live in Jacksonville Beach, FL, not far from some locally and nationally renown culinary establishments. What better place to find a truly delicious Bourbon & Burger's combination? I'd like to introduce you to one of my local favorites, Moxie Kitchen + Cocktails.

The "Moxie Burger" is a two-patty beef, pork, and bacon blend weighing in at 1/2 lb. Accompanied by the traditional Lettuce, Tomato, and Onion trio, perfectly sliced Ms. Mary's pickles (made in house), all on a brioche bun. This is a burger with Southern Character; the kind that satisfies my fresh-off-the-back-yard-grill craving. I often add extra bacon, 'cause that never hurt anybody.

My favorite pairing with the "Moxie Burger" is the "Walk Don't Run", a blend of Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon, Aperol, Cocchi Americano, barrel-aged bitters. Together they're a perfect combination.

I've returned many times for the burger, so much so that Chef Tom Gray was worried on my last visit when I didn't get the burger (One has to expand his horizons from time to time). But I can feel a Bourbon & Burger appetite building right now so I'll be back again soon.

There are so many exceptional menu items at Moxie I had to include a couple honorable mentions.

First off, the "Lorem Ipsum", a favorite of Amy West, and the "Fall Cup", another drink perfect for the autumn and winter months.
