I've
been traveling the country in search of the mouth watering
deliciousness that is Bourbon & Burgers. Tucked away in unlikely places I've found some pretty
amazing spots.
Today I'm pleased to bring you a recent find from New England.

If you read my recent review, "Catching A Flight In Boston" you know I'm a big fan of bourbon whiskey and a good hamburger. I can't think of many things better than the tastes of authentic Americana.
I'll
be honest, when I saw Bristol, CT on my itinerary recently my heart
didn't skip any beats. As far as I knew, Bristol wasn't known for its
culinary arts. With little time to explore and hours of suffocating in a small conference room I settled for the hotel restaurants the first two nights. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the two different restaurants literally feet from my room. But after wrapping 3 days of work the search was on. The search didn't last long cause pickings were nearly non-existent.
Undeterred I ventured into a local dive bar with a hodgepodge of coworkers. We didn't exactly fit the description of their typical clientele. And by that I mean we had no beer bellies, Duck Dynasty beards, super tight cut off jean shorts, or undersized neon push-up bras.
Anyways... later, back to the hotel, and after a solid workout, a local recommendation lead to Barley Vine.
A "Craft-Inspired Gastropub", Barley Vine was birthed as part of a downtown revitalization project, Bristol Rising. The eclectic artwork is fun and colorful while the food and drink are lively and fresh.
I chose the Build-a-Burger option from their menu and of course couldn't resist a Bourbon Flight, which included Ezra, Jefferson, and Knob Creek.
I couldn't help but sample a flight of Scotch also. I enjoyed Monkey Shoulder, Glenmorangie, and Macallan; my favorite being Monkey Shoulder.
Barley Vine is a great choice and sets a high standard for the revitalization project under way. Looking forward to my next burger at Barley Vine.
