Old West "Phatty Melt" | Bourbon & Burgers

It's not every day you select your spirits from the largest Single Malt Scotch Whisky selection this side of the pond, but it's this unique opportunity that has me returning to the dusty Mid-Western streets of Omaha, NE each year.

With bottles dated in the 1940s your taste for whisky should be satisfied with the offerings of the Dundee Dell's Great Wall of Scotch. Otherwise you'll need to get on a plane for Scotland because only the homeland has more to offer than "the Dell".

Known nationally as the "go-to" place for a stiff drink, "the Dell" hits the mark for selection and that authentic saloon vibe you just can't get at any modern restaurants.

On previous visits I've tried other menu items, which never disappoint, but this time there was no talking me out of the Patty Melt - "Phatty Style".

Patty Melt - Phatty Style

Grilled toast, a juicy, cooked-to-perfection American beef burger, three cheeses, count 'em 1, 2, 3, and bacon. I'm not afraid to admit, I enjoy food porn; solo, and in group settings.

The Goddess of the Single Malt?

It wouldn't be a traditional Bourbon & Burger's review without Bourbon on the table so for good measure I ordered a Buffalo Trace to start. But I always do right by "the Dell". My Scotch of choice for the evening was Clynelish 14.

I've got my next visit to the Dundee neighborhood of Omaha on the calendar for 2015 and the countdown starts now!
